Research Summary

Research in my lab focuses on understanding the fundamental mechanisms of tumor-stroma interaction that plays a critical role in tumor growth and metastasis. To this end, we have developed a novel nanofiber scaffold platform, which allows study of tumor progression in vitro and it is being exploited for research involving anti-cancer drug discovery and the mechanism of drug resistance. We are also exploring the role of cancer-associated fibroblasts, a key player in the tumor microenvironment in modulating tumor growth and cancer stem cell expansion, especially evaluating the role of the atrial natriuretic peptide receptor A signaling pathway as a target. My lab is also investigating the effects of a combined nano- and cell-therapy for the treatment of traumatic brain injury.
